Marquette

A house in Topanga Canyon built by the architect and his family in 1993, sited between the Malibu coastline and the San Fernando Valley. The plan follows the grade rather than cutting into it, and the section opens north to the canyon.

Materials were chosen for weather and for the making: exposed framing, board-formed concrete at the base, and shop-built millwork throughout.
